Willian agrees Olympiakos move on free transfer

Former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Willian has agreed to join Olympiakos as a free agent.

The former Brazil international rejected the offer of a new contract from Fulham before his last deal expired in the summer.

Willian travelled to Greece on Sunday night and passed a medical earlier at Olympiakos today. He has signed a one-year deal worth close to £100,000-a-week.

The Greek club wanted to get the agreement done in time to register the 36-year-old for their Europa League campaign in the group phase.

UEFA’s deadline to register squads is midnight central European time on Monday night.

Willian, who made 63 appearances for Fulham in the last two seasons, won five major trophies with Chelsea between 2013-20, including two Premier League titles.

He left Stamford Bridge for Arsenal in 2020 and went on to make 37 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

At international level, the playmaker scored nine goals in 70 games for Brazil. He departs English football as the fourth-highest scoring Brazilian in Premier League history behind Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino.
