Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) is set to give his final remarks from the Senate floor on Tuesday afternoon.
Manchin, who announced just over a year ago that he would not seek reelection, has held his seat since 2010. The senator, who was largely considered the most vulnerable Senate Democrat heading into 2024, left the Democratic Party and filed as an independent earlier this year.
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (R) won his bid for the open Senate seat last month.
Manchin’s remarks on Tuesday come just days after President Biden announced he would pardon his son, Hunter Biden. Manchin responded to the news by suggesting that Biden should also pardon President-elect Trump.
Manchin’s speech is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. EST.
