Tiger Woods is putting a new spin on his classic golf course style by launching Sun Day Red, a clothing line named after his trademark championship look. After announcing on Jan. 8 that he is no longer a Nike brand ambassador, Woods unveiled his partnership with TaylorMade at an event in Los Angeles on Monday.
The website doesn’t currently list any products for sale but says it’s gearing up for a May 1 launch. In addition to golf attire like polos and gloves, the Sun Day Red site says the brand will also include “luxury logo tees, fleece and hats.”

The collaboration with TaylorMade doesn’t come as a surprise given Woods switched to using TaylorMade clubs in 2016. The change came after Nike closed its golf equipment line, though he continued to wear Nike apparel. Now the swoosh is out and a jumping tiger logo formed from squiggly lines is in.
Nike first signed Woods to a five-year, $40 million deal in 1996, the year he turned pro at age 20. He and Nike became synonymous as Woods quickly became the face of golf and won countless tournaments while wearing his classic red Nike polo on Sundays. Nike eventually launched an apparel line with Woods that featured its logo and a TW logo.
Woods signed multiple deals with Nike throughout his career, with his most recent one being a reported 10-year agreement worth around $200 million in 2013.
Woods is latest golfer to leave Nike
Given that Nike made its name in the golf world largely on the back of Woods, his departure stands out. It’s about as seismic as it gets in the golf apparel world — who knows how many red polos with a swoosh are worn every weekend at every golf course in America, but it’s a lot. But Woods is not the only golfer to leave Nike recently — Jason Day is now with Malbon, an up-and-coming brand that has drawn attention already for the … roominess … in Day’s pants at The Sentry.
Still, other notable Nike golf athletes like Scottie Scheffler and Tony Finau were wearing the apparel earlier this year. Rory McIlroy and Nelly Korda remain Nike golf ambassadors. When will Woods play again?
The 15-time major champion will make his season debut at The Genesis Invitational, which is slated for Feb. 15-18 in Los Angeles at the Riviera Country Club.
The tournament marks the first full-field event Woods has played in since the 2023 Masters. He said on social media that he’s “excited to be a playing host” in the invitational, which he annually hosts to benefit his TGR Foundation.
In November, Woods said he was considering playing one tournament per month in 2024, starting with the Genesis. — Tess DeMeyer, news editor
