The Guide to LaGuardia Airport

New York’s LaGuardia Airport mainly serves the U.S. with a few destinations in Canada. The airlines that fly out of LGA (including Delta, which has its own terminal) are spread across three terminals.

There are several transportation options when it comes to getting to and from the airport, including rental car companies, public transit, ride shares and taxi services. There are also free shuttles that transport passengers between terminals.

There are three separate terminals at LaGuardia: A, B and C. They are disconnected but accessible via public walkways and an all-terminal shuttle so you can hop from one to another if necessary. There’s even an interactive map on the airport website to help you figure out where to go and what to do while you’re in the airport.

This terminal offers the most limited services, as few passengers fly out of terminal A.

Public transportation options

As you might expect from an airport within the New York City metro area, there are several Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) bus routes that serve LGA.

  • Bus: The M60 and the free LaGuardia Link Q70 are what MTA calls Select Bus Services, which make fewer stops and feature luggage racks. Alternatively, the Q47, Q48 and Q72 buses are convenient for local stops in nearby neighborhoods in Queens. Bus stops are on level 1 at terminals B and C and on the ground level of terminal A. A one-way ticket for a bus or subway trip costs $2.90 and allows one free transfer. If paying with a credit or debit card, be sure to use the same payment method each time you tap to avoid paying for the second leg.

  • Commuter rail: For travelers going to Manhattan or farther afield, choose a Select Bus Service in combination with the subway ($2.90 for a one-way) or the Long Island Rail Road or Metro-North Railroad commuter rails. If you’re traveling by commuter rail, fares are priced based on distance, and tickets can be purchased from machines at any station or via the MTA TrainTime app.

You can pay for all MTA services by contactless tapping with your credit or debit card upon boarding or purchase a reloadable MetroCard from kiosks at the airport or in subway stations.

Taxi and rideshare services at LGA

Taxi service and rideshares like Uber and Lyft are available at LaGuardia. Follow signs for “Car Services” in the airport for rideshare pickup locations, which are at each terminal. Metered taxi service is available at all terminals.

  • Terminal A: The passenger pickup area for car services and app-based rides is outside and across the street.

  • Terminal B: Located on level 2 of the terminal B parking garage, directly adjacent to the terminal.

  • Terminal C: Located at arrivals (ground) level in the inner lane.

LGA parking

There are a number of options when it comes to LaGuardia Airport parking. Your choice will depend on your budget and how close you want to be to your departure terminal. There is a shuttle bus that runs frequently to all lots and terminals. You can check current capacity and availability on LGA’s website.

Each terminal has one security area, and each has a dedicated TSA PreCheck line. You can check wait times at each screening area before you arrive on LGA’s website.
