Nottingham Forest are hopeful that neither Murillo nor Callum Hudson-Odoi will be sidelined for long with injury.
Both players will be carefully monitored over the next few days, in the hope that they will recover in time for the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, January 6.
Murillo felt a tightness in his adductor muscle during the warm-up ahead of yesterday’s 2-0 win at Everton. There was a debate in the dressing room over whether to risk playing the Brazilian regardless of the issue, but it was decided to err on the side of caution.
“It was about deciding whether to risk him or not, but the player was not comfortable,” said head coach Nuno Espirito Santo in his post-match press conference. “His adductor was very stiff and he wasn’t able to kick the ball. Let’s assess him.”
It meant a change in shape for Forest who had planned to start with a 3-4-3 formation, but instead reverted back to their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation with winger Ramon Sosa handed his first Premier League start.
The Paraguay international could face competition for his place at Molineux however, with Hudson-Odoi’s injury also only a minor issue.
“It was a dead leg and it was too painful for him to join us, although he tried to in the last moment,” added Nuno.
Since making his debut for Forest in October last year, Murillo had started 50 consecutive Premier League games. The victory at Everton was only the second game that Hudson-Odoi had not been involved in this season.
