Yes, NFL Sunday Ticket moved to the YouTube TV streaming service in 2023, but no game has been broadcast exclusively on the behemoth video streaming platform.
That will change this season, as the NFL announced today that the Los Angeles Chargers’ Week 1 game in São Paulo, Brazil on Sept. 8 will be aired on YouTube.
The Athletic’s senior media writer Andrew Marchand reported last week that the NFL was close to a deal with YouTube to televise the Week 1 Friday night game in Brazil, which was broadcast exclusively on NBC’s Peacock in a matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers. The Chargers’ opponent in this year’s Brazil game will be announced tonight.
And unlike past streaming-exclusive games on places like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, this game will be free to watch in the U.S. and in most other countries on YouTube’s main platform.
