Manchester City working on deals to sign Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov in January

Manchester City are working on deals to sign Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov this month.

There are no agreements in place for either player yet but discussions are advancing in the hope of recruiting both.

Egypt international Marmoush, 25, has enjoyed a breakout season for Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances, to put himself on the radar of a number of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Khusanov, the 20-year-old Lens centre back, has attracted interest from elsewhere, with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur aware of his talent and availability.

Marmoush joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Wolfsburg in 2023. He has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, providing 18 goals and 12 assists.

Marmoush made his senior Egypt debut in 2021 and has been capped 35 times at international level.

Manchester City have suffered a number of defensive injuries this season as the defence of their Premier League title has faltered with Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji all missing time.

Central defender Khusanov joined Lens from Belarusian Energetik-BGU Minsk in the summer of 2023.

In his first season, the Uzbekistan international made 16 appearances in all competitions for Lens.

However, this campaign Khusanov has established himself as a mainstay in the French side’s starting XI, missing just two of Lens’ 18 Ligue 1 games because of a two-game suspension due to a red card in November.
