Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the transfer of forward Omar Marmoush.
The Athletic reported on January 15 that City had seen a bid rejected by Frankfurt, although the expectation remained that a deal would get done.
Frankfurt had placed a valuation of €80million (£67.1m; $82m) on their forward while it is believed City were initially looking to pay in the region of €60m (£50.4m; $61.5m). Personal terms between the forward and City were not an issue.
Marmoush, 25, joined Frankfurt from Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023 and has scored 37 goals in 67 appearances since then.
He found the back of the net in Frankfurt’s 4-1 victory over Freiburg on Tuesday to take his tally for the season to 15 league goals.
City are short of centre-forward options following Julian Alvarez’s summer transfer to Atletico Madrid, with Erling Haaland starting 28 matches across all competitions for City this season including all 27 games across the Premier League and Champions League.
The Etihad Stadium club have been busy so far in January, having reached an agreement with Lens to sign defender Abdukodir Khusanov and a separate deal with Palmeiras to purchase Vitor Reis.
City are sixth in the Premier League and are next in action against Ipswich Town on Sunday, January 19.
