Leeds United have suffered a setback in defence with back-up option Max Wober set to be absent for around six weeks.
The Austria international has been managing a knee injury throughout the season, making sporadic appearances, but will now have to go under the knife again.
The 27-year-old underwent meniscus surgery in October, but eventually returned to play six games across November, December and January.
However, the problem has dogged Wober throughout the winter and he will now be missing until the other side of the international break in March.
Daniel Farke did at least confirm Joe Rodon and Daniel James will be available for selection at Watford on Tuesday night after they sat out the weekend’s 2-0 FA Cup loss to Millwall with minor knocks.
“Daniel James and Joe Rodon will be available,” said Farke. “They are back in training since yesterday. It was also a bit of a precaution, not to risk them in this game. If nothing major happens, then they’re definitely back available for this game.
“Bad news, sadly, with Max Wober. He has this ongoing knee problem and another setback. He will need another surgery. We’ll do this as quickly as possible and he will definitely be out until the next international break.
“We expect him just to be available after the next international break because during this week, already, we’ll have this surgery and then he’s out for around six weeks. Until the end of March, he’s not available for us.”
