Ipswich Town agree deal to sign Jack Clarke from Sunderland

Ipswich Town have agreed a deal to sign Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.

The Portman Road club will pay a £15million fee up front, but the deal could rise to as much as £20m with £5m in potential add-ons.

The midfielder will undergo a medical in Suffolk on Friday before joining on a long-term contract.

Clarke began his career with Leeds and was sold for £10m to Tottenham. He joined Sunderland in 2022, first on loan, then on a permanent contract until 2026.

He has started both of Sunderland’s Championship games this season and scored in the first, away at Cardiff City. Both have been won under new head coach Regis Le Bris and there is renewed optimism on Wearside with Burnley the visitors on Saturday.

Sunderland are close to signing striker Wilson Isidor from Zenit St. Petersburg. Isidor, 23, is a former France youth international who started his career at Rennes.

Ipswich, meanwhile, are set to make Clarke the club’s tenth summer signing since winning promotion to the Premier League under Kieran McKenna.

They are also close to completing the signing of Chelsea striker Armando Broja on a season-long loan.

Ipswich are next in action against champions Manchester City on Saturday, having lost their Premier League opener to Liverpool.
