As the 2025 Masters enters the weekend, Saturday’s third round will offer a good look at who’s standing out from the pack.
Justin Rose nearly broke the Augusta course record Thursday when he notched a 7-under-par 65, tying his career low at the Masters. Rose now holds the record for the most times someone has led the Masters after the first round (5). He kicked off Friday by opening with a birdie on the par-5 eighth, eventually finishing with a 71 to maintain a one-stroke lead over Bryson DeChambeau at 8 under.
Rory McIlroy and Corey Chambers are a stroke behind DeChambeau at 6 under.
The field will be cut nearly in half the rest of the way. Friday’s cut line ended up being 2 over, and the 53 golfers who matched or bettered that mark will continue through the final two rounds.
