Fulham complete signing of Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace

Fulham have completed the signing of defender Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace.

The Athletic previously reported that after multiple offers, the two clubs had compromised on a fee of around £30million ($39.6m) including add-ons.

The 28-year-old  has signed a five-year deal that will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2029, with the option of a further year. He will wear the number five shirt.

Speaking to FFCtv, Andersen said: “It’s really nice to be here. Feels a little bit like coming home, so it’s a good feeling.

“Of course, I know the Club, I know how Fulham are playing, I know many players, I know some staff, so I didn’t need anyone to convince me because I knew a lot of things already.

“I had some good talks with the Manager. I know the playing style he likes to play, so it was just a decision I needed to make myself, with my wife and family, and see what’s the best for me, and I think this is a good step for my career.”

Fulham had been in the market for centre-back reinforcements following the departures of Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea and Tim Ream to Charlotte FC.

Andersen spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Fulham from Lyon, featuring in 31 matches as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

The Denmark international joined Palace from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for a fee in the region of €22m (£18.8m). Prior to that, he enjoyed spells at FC Twente and Sampdoria.

Andersen has made 113 appearances across all competitions for Palace, scoring three goals.

He was a key figure last season, starting all 38 matches as the club recorded their joint-highest Premier League finish under new manager Oliver Glasner.

Fulham, who began their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last Friday, are next in action against newly-promoted Leicester City at Craven Cottage on Saturday
