From data chaos to digital calm: The top 6 benefits of Revizto on AEC projects

Theoretically, digital technology should bring data together, and yet, in many cases, it’s creating more disconnects – making design, coordination and construction of projects complicated.

The challenge is that we have an abundance of a good thing—namely data. That data comes from many sources in varying formats. Bringing that data together is a hurdle that can be difficult to overcome.

In a recent Quick Dive webinar, Tiffany Willard, Territory Sales Executive at Revizto, uncovered the top six ways an Integrated Collaboration Platform can help turn chaos into calm, leading firms worldwide to make the switch to Revizto. If you missed it, here’s the recap.

#1. Infinite File Size Support

Many of today’s solutions are built to create 3D models and there is certainly intelligence to them. Revizto is built on a game engine making it easier to handle graphics, physics, audio, artificial intelligence, and user input. With this foundational toolkit, Revizto is able to process, open and navigate large amounts of data—and it greatly simplifies model management. Mortenson was highlighted as an example of a case study where Revizto was used to coordinate large projects and lots of data from multiple sources.

#2. Automated Issue Tracking

Even the most organized digital workflows often struggle with issue tracking. Revizto’s Issue Tracker connects all relevant information in one place for quick resolution. Every issue has its own unique identification with title, type, status assignee, priority level and deadline. Within those issues, it’s easy to link screenshots, 2D drawings and 3D models. MP Lundy’s case study was spotlighted as an example of how customers are realizing the benefits of Revizto for automated issue tracking.

#3. Democratized Clash Detection

Traditional clash detection tools are typically add-ons that, in many cases, haven’t changed in 15 years or more. They’re complicated, require high performance computers and are not accessible to everyone on the project team (e.g., project managers, field teams, owners and stakeholders). It’s a critical digital workflow that often leads to siloed information. Revizto features a built-in Clash Automation tool that can perform sophisticated automated clash testing on files, objects and point clouds. Users can even fine tune their clash criteria to automatically detect and assign the clashes to appropriate people with all of the predefined specifications and stamps at the click of a button. Revizto democratizes clash detection – no longer does one individual have to federate a model and assign out clashes. Trades can also run their own class tests, and solve issues before the next coordination meeting.

#4. Mobile Access

Job progress tracking is largely handled by superintendents and foremen who spend hours managing a job—and the benefits of BIM are limited. Revizto’s mobile apps allow field teams to access models, drawings and comments directly from job sites, even without Wi-Fi, on tablets and smartphones. They can add markups, photos and comments directly into the system. When the system comes back online, data automatically syncs.

#5. Point Cloud Accessibility

Laser scanners are increasingly affordable and many firms are taking advantage of the ability to gather large amounts of as-built data as needed. The challenge is managing these massive files. Revizto and its gaming engine makes it very easy to visualize point clouds along with 2D and 3D data. You can even run Clash Automation against a point cloud within the software.

#6. Automated Reports and Dashboards

In today’s increasingly digital environment, communication and coordination happen across a number of different tools and solutions. Many organizations are still using manual reports. With Revizto, users can automate reports and dashboards to track project progress and make that information accessible not just to the project team, but to owners and stakeholders.
