F1 Vegas 2024 live updates: Latest as drivers and team principals face the press ahead of this week’s race

Here it is. The blazing lights and iconic sights of Las Vegas, hosting Formula One for a second year at its Strip circuit following a 2023 debut.

There were two previous races hosted by the city, named the Caesars Palace Grand Prix that completed the 1981 and 1982 seasons respectively.

Nelson Piquet and Keke Rosberg clinched the drivers’ championships in those two finales.

This time around may not be the final race of the season, but it could be the clincher for Max Verstappen if the cards fall in his favor.

The 17-turn circuit runs through the heart of Vegas, taking in Caesars Palace, the Bellagio and the Venetian.

Average speeds are comparable to Monza, which hosts the Italian Grand Prix and is renowned for being a powerhouse track, while the Strip offers a prime overtaking spot.

Key circuit facts include:

  • Circuit length: 6.201km (3.853 miles)
  • Number of laps: 50
  • Race distance: 310km (193 miles)
  • Lap record: 1:35.490 (Oscar Piastri, 2023)
  • First GP: 2023
