The chaos of a college football season was on full display in Week 2. There were inexplicable upsets and close calls all over, leaving us with a clearer picture of this season. Ahead of Week 3, there are some big matchups and plenty of potentially tricky games for highly-ranked teams.
Alabama at Wisconsin is one of the marquee matchups on paper. The Crimson Tide struggled with South Florida last week. The Bulls were within a point in the fourth quarter before Alabama pulled away for a misleading 42-16 win. Alabama scored 28 points in the fourth quarter, including three touchdowns in the last six minutes. Now the Crimson Tide go to Madison where they are favored by more than two touchdowns.
There are two top-25 matchups on the Week 3 schedule. On Friday, No. 20 Arizona goes to No. 14 Kansas State in a big early Big 12 game. Yes, this is now a conference game thanks to Arizona moving from the Pac-12. The host Wildcats are favored by a touchdown.
The other top-25 matchup is one that might sneak under the radar. No. 6 Missouri, which hasn’t allowed a point yet, takes on No. 24 Boston College, which knocked off Florida State in its opener and shutout Duquesne on Saturday. Is Missouri a real contender this year? Are we sure Florida State is an impressive win after an 0-2 start for the Seminoles? The Tigers are favored by more than two touchdowns.
Elsewhere, old Pac-12 rivalries will see the first version of their nonconference iterations. No. 9 Oregon goes to Oregon State as a multiple-score favorite and Washington hosts Washington State. The Huskies are favored by less than a touchdown.
Here are the odds and schedule for every game featuring an AP Top 25 team, plus a few other notable games in Week 3. No. 3 Ohio State, No. 8 Penn State, No. 11 USC, No. 19 Louisville, No. 21 Iowa State, No. 22 Clemson and No. 25 Northern Illinois are on bye this week.
Odds for FBS vs. FCS games typically only show up closer to gameday, so those aren’t listed for now. This week, that only applies to No. 23 Nebraska vs. Northern Iowa.
