Azul Beach Resort Negril is located on the glorious shores of Seven Mile Beach where the sun meets the Caribbean Sea in beautiful Jamaica. This five-star stunning resort features Karisma’s Gourmet Inclusive Experience and lives up to all expectations. The laid-back Caribbean feel lets you go at your own pace but when you are ready for action it’s easy to find things to do. With seven pools, a fitness center, spa, nightly entertainment, water sports, plenty of kids activities, and impeccable service, my son and I found the perfect balance between relaxing and exploring the resort. School may have just started but it’s not too soon to plan a family vacation for the holidays. Here are 5 reasons to add Azul Beach Negril to your bucket list.
Relax In Large And Luxurious Family Suites
There are 283 luxurious suites at Azul Beach Negril and since I was traveling with my son we opted for two cozy double beds. Our spacious suite came with a large digital television, safe, stocked minibar, iron and ironing board, coffee maker, hair dryer, and large terrace featuring a relaxing circular daybed and table and chairs to eat outside. Guests staying in a deluxe swim up suite can access a lazy river from their room.
If traveling with a large family (or a family that appreciates their space!) the family loft suite is perfect with two separate stories and two bedrooms. There is a king bed, two double beds, multiple private bathrooms, separate living area, and a sofa bed designed to accommodate two more children. Regardless what layout you choose, kind staff welcome you to Negril. My favorite room feature was the stunning view of the Caribbean Sea from our balcony. Gentle waves greeted us each morning and come nightfall the spectacular amber sunset was the perfect end to the day.
Dine On Jamaican Cuisine At Gourmet Restaurants
Being on vacation (and not cooking or cleaning!) is an ideal time to sample new foods and experience flavors from around the globe. There are nine restaurants at Azul Beach Negril including six Gourmet Inclusive restaurants and three Gourmet Corners offering worldly cuisine served á la carte. On our first night in paradise we dined at Ackee, a stylish outdoor restaurant serving tasty Jamaican food with views of the water. Restaurants accommodate special diets and food intolerances and our island meals were made vegan upon request with local veggies, rice, beans, tofu, spices, and herbs.
Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica and although it’s not indigenous to the island it has historical significance as it was originally imported from West Africa. Other traditional foods we tried were Jamaican pear (think really big Avocado), sweetsop (a green skinned fruit growing wildly across the island with texture similar to soursop, break apart the inside segments and eat the sweet creamy part inside), and callaloo (a green leafy vegetable comparable to collard greens, amaranth, or spinach.) We had callaloo cooked with rice and I loved it in my morning green smoothie.
Other dining options include Palms Restaurant for world cuisine, Di Romagna for Italian favorites, Garfield Beach House for BBQ (Vegan burgers available), Mahogany Open Kitchen with a large buffet, and Hua Hin for Thai food. Don’t go home without having a cocktail or mocktail at 7-Mile Bar, a trendy hotel bar on Seven Mile Beach with views of the sea.
Get Pampered At The Spa
If your kids are aged 4 to twelve and you want a spa day to yourself, drop them off for daily supervised activities at Azulitos Playhouse and sneak off to Vassa Spa. Experience a Zen-like ambiance with a menu of services devoted to relaxation and rejuvenation. Or bring your older teen with you like I did and show them what it means to get pampered. Treatments include facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, couples signature treatments, bride packages for wedding rituals, a Kids Suite with Perfectly Pink treatments, hydrotherapy suite, and a Sky Massage area on an elevated deck overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Amenities, Activities, And Entertainment
There are seven refreshing swimming pools scattered throughout the resort including an exclusive kids club pool, fun splash park for kids, tennis court, and fully equipped fitness center. Or challenge your offspring to a giant game of chess, take basketball shots, or have a friendly game of ping pong. Daily activities include aqua reggae, dance classes, pool and beach volleyball, Jamaican cooking, pilates, yoga, bingo, rum tasting, and we even created our own colorful tie dye t-shirts.
Stanley’s Sea Sports is located along the beach and Azul guests have free access to kayaks, hobbie sailboats, boogie boards, and stand up paddle boards. We embarked on daily kayaking adventures and even found a shipwreck.
Come nightfall check out entertainment for all ages on the Amber Deck such as cabaret singers, lively bands, and a fun Michael Jackson show. There is a long boardwalk running parallel to the beach wrapping around the resort leading to various restaurants and activities that become extra special at night with twinkling lights. Be on the lookout for friendly crabs and other critters roaming about.
Explore Seven Mile Beach
Azul Beach Negril lines the west coast of the famous Seven Mile Beach. Before arriving in Negril I had never heard of it and by the time we left it had become one of my favorites. Powdery white soft sand led us to warm calm water where we spent hours soaking up the sun with views of boats off in the distance. The sparkling turquoise water is shallow and the sand stretches out quite far making it super family friendly. The water is so clear you can see tiny fish swimming by and magnificent starfish on the bottom.
Seven Mile Beach is safe to visit with friendly locals and visitors happy to chat. The laid-back chill vibe here is the perfect backdrop to relax with a book in a cozy hut while sipping on a refreshing and colorful Bob Marley layered cocktail.
Stanley’s Sea Sports also offers paid activities such as motorized water sports, parasailing, inflatable rides, snorkeling trips, snorkel gear rental, scuba diving lessons and certification.
Or take a ride on a glass bottom boat tour, watch the sunset, or stroll along the shore among gently swaying palm trees watching Jamaican pelicans dive into the sea for their next meal. Seven Mile Beach is the paradise we are all dreaming about when we envision a Caribbean vacation and Azul Beach Negril more than lives up to their dreamy name.
