Brentford’s proposed signing of Antonio Nusa from Club Bruges has been thrown into doubt by some complications in the deal.
An agreement was found between the two clubs and with the 18-year-old Norway international, who favoured Brentford over a host of sides after their long-term pursuit and plan for his development.
But the transfer has not yet been finalised and appears to have taken a backwards step, potentially opening the door to a late push by other teams.
Equally, there is a strong chance the winger does not move prior to Thursday’s deadline and the matter is readdressed before the summer.
Despite interest from Premier League rivals including Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford emerged as his preferred choice.
Securing such a highly-rated talent would have been an impressive recruit for the west London side.
In light of this development, however, it is unclear if Brentford’s acquisition will come to fruition prior to the winter market closing.
