Aurelien Tchouameni: Real Madrid midfielder out of Champions League final with injury

Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni will miss the Champions League final and could be an injury doubt for France ahead of Euro 2024.

The midfielder, 24, sustained a stress injury to his left foot during the semi-final second-leg win over Bayern Munich earlier this month, during which he was withdrawn in the 69th minute.

The 14-time champions meet Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium on June 1 with France’s first game of the European Championships, against Austria, following on June 17.

“He is doing individual work but he is not ready for the final,” Carlo Ancelotti said in his press conference ahead of the final game of the La Liga season against Real Betis on Saturday night.

“Let’s see if he’s ready for the Euro”.

Tchouameni has been a regular fixture in Ancelotti’s team this season, missing only a handful of games due to injury in November and December.

He has at times been called on to play at centre-back amid injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba, but the majority of his minutes have come as a defensive midfielder.

Tchouameni has 31 caps for his national team, scoring three goals.
