Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa will be out for around a month with a knee injury.
Konsa, 26, was withdrawn 59 minutes into Villa’s 5-0 win at Sheffield United on Saturday, having injured his knee in a collision with the post.
“Ezri is injured,” Villa head coach Unai Emery confirmed ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round replay against Chelsea.
“He has a knee sprain and he is not going to be available. I don’t know, three or four weeks more or less.”
Konsa has been ever-present in the Villa team this season, starting all 23 of their Premier League matches, but will now miss a run of games.
In better news for Villa, fellow defender Pau Torres will be back in the matchday squad against Chelsea having missed the last five fixtures in all competitions.
“Pau Torres has started training with the group and he is going to be on the bench tomorrow,” Emery added.
Following Wednesday’s visit of Chelsea, Villa return to Premier League action on Sunday with a home game against Manchester United.
