Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has been ruled out of Germany’s October Nations League fixtures due to a knee problem.
The 25-year-old will not be part of the Germany squad for their two matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands, with no timeframe given for his return.
Julien Nagelsmann has called up Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt in Havertz’s place.

Havertz played the full 90 minutes and scored during Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday. It was his sixth goal in 10 appearances in all competitions this season, with Mikel Arteta stating before the game the Germany international has the “qualities and ambition” to become a 20-plus goal striker.
Arsenal have contended with a number of injury problems this season, with Martin Odegaard, Ben White, Jurrien Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko all sidelined for Saturday’s Premier League win.
Summer signing Mikel Merino has made his return to first-team action in recent weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury in his first training session with the club.
Havertz was Germany’s first-choice striker at Euro 2024, playing all five matches at the tournament and scoring twice as his country reached the quarter-finals.
Following October’s international break, Arsenal face Bournemouth in the Premier League on October 19. This starts a run of seven games in three weeks, which also includes the visit of Premier League leaders Liverpool, a trip to Inter Milan in the Champions League and an away fixture at Chelsea.
