Star Purdue safety Dillon Thieneman announced his commitment to Oregon on Saturday.
Thieneman is one of the most accomplished players to enter the transfer portal during this window, and his addition is the latest instance of the Ducks flexing their muscles in the portal and on the recruiting trail.

Thieneman was an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick this season for a Purdue squad that went 1-11. He burst onto the scene as a true freshman in 2023 when he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, second-team All-Big Ten and first-team Freshman All-American. Thieneman has posted 210 tackles, seven TFLs and six interceptions in his college career.
The Westfield, Ind., native entered the transfer portal earlier this month after Purdue fired coach Ryan Walters. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Reports indicated that Thieneman planned to visit Ohio State, but the Ducks closed the deal this weekend. Oregon brought in a tremendous transfer class last year headlined by Heisman Trophy finalist quarterback Dillon Gabriel, defensive lineman Derrick Harmon and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad.
The Ducks are off to a great start with Thieneman this transfer cycle after signing the No. 3 recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite. The Ducks’ strength in name, image and likeness certainly plays a role in their success with talent acquisition, but Dan Lanning has built an elite recruiting staff as well. It doesn’t hurt that Oregon just went 13-0, won the Big Ten in its first season in the league and is the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.
