First Lady Jill Biden plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the television show “The West Wing” at The White House on Friday evening.

The White House said the event will “celebrate the role of storytelling in inspiring Americans to pursue a career in public service.” Members of the cast are expected to attend and the First Lady is expected to make remarks, the release said.

The long-running NBC series debuted 20 years ago, on Sept. 22, 1999, and continued for seven seasons until 2006.

“The West Wing” stars Martin Sheen, Dulé Hill, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff and Allison Janney recently reunited at the Emmys on Sunday to present the award for outstanding drama series, USAToday reported.

Bradley Whitford, the fictional White House deputy chief of staff Josh Lyman, said he supported President Biden’s reelection bid prior to the president dropping out of the presidential race and Vice President Harris taking over as the Democratic nominee. He was unable to attend the Emmys and will not attend the White House event this week.

Sheen, who starred as the fictional President Jed Bartlet, visited the president at The White House alongside his co-stars Mary McCormack and Melissa Fitzgerald in August.
